Parents, get ready for a shocking revelation: disciplining your kids can be fun. Lisa Bunnage, the founder of Bratbusters Parenting Service, says it’s actually possible to put a fun twist on punishments — as long as a few conditions are met and parents are prepared to follow her method.
First, there has to be a system of accountability. "Discipline, to me, is about accountability and teaching by example,” Lisa explains. One of the most fundamental ways she teaches this to parents is by creating a “family law.” For example, shouting tends to go on in many households and Lisa says that both parents and kids should put in place a rule that covers everyone. If any member of the house breaks it – no matter how young, old, big, or small — then they have to be “punished” by doing something fun for the person they yelled at. So if you catch your kids yelling, it just might be time for that stay-at-home spa session for yourself!
