Before becoming a small business owner, Andrea Mendoza had been working as a general paediatric physiotherapist since 2011. Early in her career, her caseload began to include more and more children and adolescents with scoliosis, which led her to pursue in-depth training in the field. Andrea was attracted to the science behind the medical condition and immersed herself in the research. "I became really involved and was very interested in how complex the biomechanics were," she explains.
Andrea opened The ScoliClinic in 2016, knowing she could equip parents with the information and skills to support their child's scoliosis diagnosis. "My caseload had morphed into 90-percent kids with scoliosis, so it just made the most sense to create a space that was dedicated to them," she notes.
