Pizza Pino

Good pizza, dingy location

The pizzas here are heavily topped, period! The ingredients seem to be of higher quality than chain restaurants for a price that isn't too far off of chain pricing. When you pick up a pizza, you'll be shocked by the sheer heft of the thing, thick crust and piles of cheese and toppings. The dough is dense, but it needs to be to maintain it's structural integrity.... The sauce is average, but is perfectly acceptable. The location itself is not pretty, dimly lit, stained ceiling tiles, pizza boxes stacked at the back of the room, old bingo hall style chairs etc. The place needs a makeover, badly. Saying that, I take out every time. The lady who I usually see in there is friendly, she needs to take the phone headset off and have conversations in a back office. I don't feel it's professional to walk through your restaurant carrying on conversations. These are the reasons I gave the atmosphere a 2.

Good food, large portions

Portions are large and well done. A little on the pricey side, but worth it for the amount of food. Lots of cheese and toppings on the pizza. The panzarotti can be shared with 3 people as a lunch or can take home for a couple of meals.

Average food for average price...nothing special. Service was good and staff friendly. Always use it for delivery and it is quick. I will visit again

Nice Place

My constant search of a great pizza joint continued a couple of weeks ago and brought me to Pizzza Pino's. Great staff and family environment but the place needs a bit of a facelift. Not really that bothersome at all though. My wife and I split a Pizza Pino special which had pepperoni, green peppers, onions, muchrooms and bacon I think. The pizza tasted good but the only thing I did not like was that it was super thick crust. I am a bit picky as I do not like really thin crust or really thick. If thick crust, homemade pizza is your thing, then this is the place for you. The servers were really good and we had a good time but just too much dough for me. Cost was good.

BEST pizza in Durham

The best pizza I have had so far! Crust is fluffy and tastes great. They use alot of toppings and their cheese is perfect and stringy. If your looking for a full meal this is the place to go! Worth every penny!

A true Pizza Pie

What a great pie! We have been searching Durham for a great pizza, having come from the Danforth area of Toronto, and only finding conglomerate chains in Whitby. Pizza Pino may be a bit out of the way, but we will definitely be returning. Another reviewer complained about having to use a fork and knife...we almost had to, but not complaining. If you like a pie that is loaded, this is the place for you.

Pretty Good Pizza

The pizza is quite good, definitely a lot of cheese. It takes a long time to get your food, and had to wait for waitress to get a beer. Somewhat off the beaten path but there is lots of parking so no problem there. Atmosphere caters to team get togethers so its kind of loud. Overall, decent place to go, worth a try.

Driving to Pizza Pino, we were convinced that we had missed the place as it was so far away from any other restaurants or stores. However, once we found it and were inside, we found the reception warm, and the cliental and decor quite ecclectic. However, we had tried their pizza on delivery before, and we weren't coming for anything other than the pie. That being said, it takes a while for good pizza, so we settled in with a large bowl of steaming southern fried mushrooms. Though plain and unbattered, they came with three unidentified sauces (which we determined to be ranch, ceasar, and parmesian cheese), and were well cooked and juicy. An interesting appitizer, but we would most likely try another next time. When the pizza arrived, it was right out of the oven and covered in melting cheese and delicious toppings. Unfortunately, they no longer offer strips of bacon as the website shows, but we had no doubt that the amount of total bacon on the pizza hadn't diminished. The 'regular' crust was excellent-crisp on the outside and very chewy, without being boring or bready. The tomato sauce was sweet and tangy. Between 2 of us, we had an 8 slice pizza, and we had one slice left over. I had five slices, my wife two. The pizza at Pino's is one of the best I've ever had, perhaps only surpassed by Pizzeria Uno's famous deep dish in Chicago, or closer to home, the delicious thin crust at Terroni. For dessert, we ordered the cinnamon balls, which are deep fried pizza dough, sprinkled with sugar and (obviously) cinnamon. Although quite a heavy choice after the pizza, they were delicious. I would recommend Pino's expand the dessert offering to include ice cream, which might be a little easier on the stomach after their main courses. Overall, we had a great experience,a nd I would strongly recommend Pizza Pino's to anyone-they might just have the best pizza in the GTA.
