Lusiana Lukman, founder of the Classical Music Conservatory on Roncesvalles, has never been short on determination or drive. She managed to teach 40 private students while still in her third year of her music degree at the University of Toronto. As some of those piano students reached a higher level and needed theory and history lessons as well as musical instruction, even the energetic Lusiana realized she needed help. To make things even busier, she was awarded a scholarship to do her master’s degree, she refused let a little thing like time get in her way. She hired other music students, rented a space, and began her teaching in earnest.
When Lusiana met Wanda Bussiere, she was teaching a young children's music program out of the High Park library. Wanda’s attention to detail was a marvelous complement to Lusiana’s entrepreneurial spirit — “she quadrupled our business.” Now the two co-own the CMC, as it is affectionately known by parents and kids in the neighbourhood. which has been a pillar of the Roncesvalles Village since 2005.
