Only those in the know head to the very back of a rowdy Front Street sports bar for no-nonsense burgers from the aptly named fast food spot Hidden Burger. Tucked in the rear of The Bottom Line, past the hostesses and hockey-tuned flat screens, is a wee sign that reads “Bay Street’s Worst Kept Secret.”
The only signage pointing to Hidden Burger’s existence hangs above a nondescript hallway. A quick investigation will have you discover an alcove decked in Archie comic–themed wallpaper. Here, they serve up the Riverdale crew’s favourite after-school meal: back-to-the-basics cheese burgers and fries. And, more recently, wings were added to what is possibly Toronto’s shortest menu.
Not only is this grab-and-go joint hidden at the very back of an existing restaurant, but Hidden Burger has zero street-side signs beckoning hungry Leafs fans in for their $12 beer and burger pre-game special. Keen foodies, techy savants and lunch-obsessed Bay Streeters are the few who know about this surreptitious spot.
