Calgary native Bob Lindsay seems to have the Midas touch when it comes to restaurants.
After graduating from Ryerson University with a hospitality degree, Bob went on to work at Lonnie’s Restaurant, the only seafood eatery in Calgary in 1978. That success was followed up with Cannery Row, a Dixieland jazz and seafood bar, which soon became the city’s hotspot. “It was such a fun restaurant and an incredibly successful one,” he notes. “Our first restaurant critique dubbed it the ‘eye of the hurricane’ because it was so huge in 1981.”
After settling in B.C., Bob went on to launch two restaurants in Whistler – Monk's Grill and McQueens on Blackcomb – and the landmark Monk McQueen’s Fresh Seafood & Oyster Bar in False Creek, which closed in 2012 after 26 years. In 2002, he founded Lift Grill Bar View. According to Bob, “The combination of being on the waterfront in downtown Vancouver, in an architecturally beautiful building and featuring the best local seafood, made Lift hugely popular from the moment we opened the doors."

Reception and all the service staff were very helpful and cordial. Food was great too.
Ambiance was just perfect sitting on the terrace along the water with views of the mountains. As it got chilly we were offered blankets and they turned on the fire pits...beautiful! The food was amazing, we had sushi, summer salade and portebello tarte, tuna.....all the plates were empty. Definitely a great place to go and be.
Located on the water with a view of the marina, Stanley park and the mountains, you can't ask for a better location! The food is fantastic. The ceviche and the watermelon & feta salad are great and their sushi and oyster platters are outstanding. The service and ambience also contribute to making this restaurant stand-out! This place is on my preferred list - can't wait to come again.
Incredible view but don't go without reservation. Good menu and at $50 the food was very good. The Rack of Lamb was right and obviously very fresh! The manager offered us free drinks since I knew him from way back which was awkward considering the company. This restaurant is now operated by familiar business interests in Vancouver which clearly know what to do. Great place for a date, alcohol selection and is also out of the way.
Couldn't ask for a more perfect place to enjoy what was an exquisite dinner by the harbour. The Ahi Tuna I enjoyed was prepared to perfection, and the view of the harbour was amazing. That combined with the excellent service, and I can confidently say there was nothing missing!
