A love of music and a desire to be her own boss led former real estate agent Pamela Caravan to make a major career-altering decision and open up Music Makers in 1979. She had originally been teaching piano lessons while she was selling real estate, but didn’t like the inconsistent hours and wanted to commit to music full-time. “I saw a need for it. I was always entrepreneurially oriented,” says Pamela. “I was planning on having a family and wanted to have a lifestyle where you don’t have to work weekends and odd hours.”
Under Pamela’s guidance, Music Makers has developed a great reputation, a knowledgeable staff and a successful business plan – successful enough to open a second location in the 1980s. “It’s almost like I had the gift for knowing how to run my own business basically," says Pamela. "Everyone is born with gifts and that was one of mine.”
