Steak was amazing
This is the first review I have ever done for anything! I could never take the time to make a profile and sign up just to write something. This restaurant deserves my time and my perfect review! If it wasn't for a friend telling us to try it out we would have never given this restaurant the time of day do to the part of Hamilton it is in. This restaurant really is a hidden gem. It is open only on certain days and closed all July August because the owner wants to spend time with his family. It gives me the impression that the owner owns this restaurant out of love for the business and not just for money. It's almost as if its a Hobbie of his. We went on a Wednesday evening around 7pm. The place wasnt busy which made the atmosphere cozy and uncommercialized. The decor was warm and quiet. We were greeted at the door by the owner and were seated promptly. We looked at a wine list and decided on a Merlot. The waiter said they didn't have that name of Merlot that was on the list any more but did have a different brand of Merlot. We were hesitant so what he did was poor us a half a glass so we could try. We tried it and loved it. He then opened a new bottle. We were very pleased with the service. We then ordered French onion soup which was amazing. French onion soup is my wife and I's favourite. We have ordered this soup at many different locations and were always disappointed. This was by far the best we have had. our main entry came out at a perfect time without feeling rushed to eat our appetizers. My steak was great and juicy needed a little more flavour but was still great. My wife's filet mignon was cooked perfectly. The vegetable medley was very tasteful with zucchini, crispy pear shaped mashed potatoes carrots, beats and crispy onion. I have found a new fine dinning place I can call home. I commend the owner on the hard work he has done.
This was a very nice experience - was recommended by the owner of a restaurant I frequent and it was better than advertised! Service was friendly and attentive and the food was prepared with care. I have to laugh though. I am a frequent reader of restaurant reviews and I am shocked at the number of people that get "food poisoning". People, please.
I have been here many times. Always treated like family. They take such pride in their service as well as what they are serving. We've been with friends, family and sometimes just the two of us and its never disapointed. Homemade breads to die for!
The Purple Pear is a very pleasant atmosphere. It is very welcoming and the live music they played the night I had dinner there with my family was very soothing during the delicious meal. I went with my parents and two sisters and we all enjoyed our meals. They were also very good with my sister, since she is allergic to nuts, peanuts, egg, shellfish, and beans. They were very good to her and prepared her food specially for her and safely. I would recommend this restaurant and I would go again!
